    Hi Cornelius,
The details for Version E/F RNS-510 can be found here.

Yes, you will need to add the Voice Control wiring harness. We have them available if you need one.

Hello,  If I’m purchasing a 2012 Jetta with RNS-310 NAV already installed, would this just be a quick swap (with RNS-510 NAV) and all functionality (voice command specifically) will be available, with no additional modifications/parts needed?

    FLYTDIGUY Reply:

    Hi Craig,
In most cases, VW will not provide the wiring for voice command if the native vehicle doesn’t support it. From their perspective, why waste the extra money to wire it?

If you’re looking to update from your existing factory navi to the RNS-510 unit, your swap will be pretty easy and the only tricky part will be to update the wiring for Voice Command and ensure that the vag-com/vcds programming is accurate.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Yes, the RNS-510 can be updated with new firmware, depending on the particular model. Meaning, you can update any A, B or C unit to a D version with a recently launched VW Firmware update.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

    MBD Reply:

No you cannot. Only the latest C versions with LED can be updated to a D version with the 38xx og the newes 39xx FW.

    A – B and C with LCD cannot.

    FLYTDIGUY Reply:

For US versions, it is possible to update A, B or C units to become D units from a firmware perspective. The LED monitor will obviously be the difference between A-C and other newer units.

Hello! I’m from Argentina, I have a Passat B6 FIS Red and wanted to know if I can install a RNS510 to my car. What function would lose by having red FIS?

Does anyone know if this permits Pandora/Spotify control as reported here:

Also, does it allow navigation to an artist by letter (displaying an onscreen keyboard) instead of the long scroll list?  I have hundreds of artists and it takes a long time to find/get to what I want to play.
