Spring is here and along with the yard work and pollen, there’s great savings to be had! While we work on updating the look and feel of the website, we’re offering some bonuses for those that purchase RNS-510 packages. First bonus – video in motion. If you’d like this option enabled, we can do so at no charge. Second, if you need an antenna adapter (MY 05.5 – 09), we can supply them gratis. Lastly, we can also provide you with a satellite radio extension cable included as well. And as always, with all of our packages, we offer free priority mail shipping (Canada & Mexico are an additional cost) and a one year warranty. Where else will you find all of that?

Remember our RNS packages include everything you need to install the navi unit into most VWs (if you have questions about your specific model, please ask). We include the following with all of our RNS-510 packages:

  • New RNS-510 OEM navigation unit with security code
  • New magnetic mount GPS antenna
  • New OEM Version 3M Map Disc
  • New antenna adapter cable (not needed for 2010 or 2011 models)
  • New OEM Paper manual

Order your RNS-510 Package here!

A couple of other updates updates:

As always, we look forward to helping you. Should you have any questions, please contact us.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

    Hi,
I saw your way back post (on january 2010 about the walk through) and I read that you recommended a CD rom which cost $20 for updates. so I was wondering if the same CD rom will work for m y Tiguan 2009?

As I play around the website you attached on the post (https://www.vw.techliterature.com/consumer/ProductSearch.aspx), I saw that it has the most updated software. will it contribute the same feature as the RNS510FLSH0380?

I really appreciate your reply to this comment. Thank You

Yes, the CD that you mentioned and will work with your 09 Tiguan without any problem. The part number have been back-ordered from VW Publications for some time. Best bet would be to send their Customer Service Dept. a message through the website and ask when they will get them back in stock.

Before you make the time investment, you may want to consider checking what firmware version you have. There are two ways to do this. One with a vag-com/vcds tool and two, by removing the unit from the dash and looking at the top sticker. The first generation version (ending in 684A or 684B) firmware’s most recent release is 0380, so if you have something less than that such as 0210 or 0320 or 0360, than this version will help reduce bugginess and improve speed and stability.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hello,
I’m interested in upgrading my 2011 Jetta TDI with the RNS 510 system from the RCD 510. What are the differences between European, Australian, and US version RNS 510s? What vag codes need changing? It looks like the wiring does not need to be changed, but I haven’t been able to get clear images of the wiring pin out. Is it difficult to upload map changes; i.e., swapping out UK/AU for the North America maps?
Thank you for the help, Eric

Is it hard to modify the RNS-510 to allow Video in Motion? What is the latest firmware revision for the RNS-510 for US users?

    Thanks for your time,

    Paul

Not hard and can be done with hardware or software. Latest firmware is with the “E” and “F” version units, but this is not available in retrofit format. The only retrofit version commercially available is 0380/0382.

    Hi Paul,
This can be done with either hardware of software. We sell the hardware version.

    Thanks,

I have a Tiguan SE 2011. It has RCD 510 head unit. I would like to upgrade the head to RNS 510 for the GPS and more importantly for the rear view camera. Are there special modifications for the connectors to fit the RNS 510 unit? I already have the bluetooth and the iPod control. Are those going to be retained or I have to buy special kits for the RNS 510 ? What about RNS 510 and the rear view camera, what do I need besides the camera itself?

    Eliad,
There are two ways to install the camera for the Tiguan, highline (with gridlines) and lowline without. Prices will vary despending on which direction you’d like to go.

Please let us know if we can help.

What is the price for a kit that includes the RNS 510 and the rear view camera kit for a Tiguan 2011? Do you have Tiguan instructions for the rearview camera kit?

    Eliad,
We have both available and there are several different versions of instructions around for the camera. Pricing will be sent in a follow-up message.

    Thanks!

    Hi,
I have a 2006 Golf GTI that came factory with the RCD MFD2 as factory…
I am having issues with the unit and the car (I think there is a little battery drain going on).. I have tried updating the unit but to no avail… Seems that all the online update downloads dont work.. (BUGGER)..
So, I am planning on updating the unit to an RNS 510 with reverse cam.. I know there are a lot of things I need to change i.e. the canbus, require the Vagcom, and needing to chop some metal from the boot door (for the reverse cam)… However, I was wondering if you do an ‘all in one package’?
Another question, the existing GPS antenna in the car (from the old RNS MFD2), can that be used with the new RNS 510??

    Regards
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
You may want to check with VW Publications for the firmware update discs for your MFD2. Only use genuine VW discs or you could render your unit a doorstop. I’ve seen it happen often.

We offer a package for your RNS-510 units that includes everything needed for the unit (map discs, wiring adapters, antenna, manual), but we do not offer canbus modules, vag-com/vcds, etc.

The existing GPS antenna that you have for the MFD2 will absolutely work for the RNS-510. It’s plug and play.

Please feel free to Contact Us for more details.

    Thanks,
