Hi,
I have a couple of questions if you can help please.
1. Is this supported with any RNS-510 model?
2. Does the unit support a button push on the head unit to activiate the voice control?
I have just purchased an RNS-510 to install in my 2004 Touareg. I have a CAN Bus filter to get some simple functionality from my basic multi function steering wheel and am not looking for any advanced functions on the steering wheel. My steering wheel does not have phone controls and that makes the voice control feature very appealing.
If the unit is supported with any RNS-510 head unit and the voice control can be activated with a button press on the RNS-510 then it would seem to be that I could still get a highly functional bluetooth handsfree working (the address book display in MFD and steering wheel controls are of no great interest to me.)

Yes, this module works with older RNS-510 models.
From the information that I have read from others, the unit does support the phone button on the RNS-510.
I do not know if this new 9W7 version will work with the Touareg, and I would highly doubt if it is compatible with an older can-bus version of the Touareg. From what I understand, the 9W7 will not work with red displays from 06-08 VWs, so if I had to guess, it would not work for your 04 Touareg. The one kit that will work is the Fiscon Basic Plus.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,

Will this work with the Premium7 Headunit in a MK5 GTI? Since it does not have bluetooth currently (but has the phone button), are there any other parts that are needed to make this work? I do plan to upgrade to the RNS-510 but not right away so that’s why I am interested in this 9w7
Thanks

Hi Jeff,
I know that this BT Module will work with both the Premium 8 (RCD-510) and RNS-510. I am not certain that it would work with other headunits. Theoretically, it should work as a replacement for any 9W2, so if you have that BT kit with your Premium 7, you *should* be ok. As mentioned previously, I do not have factual proof both are compatible with each other.
Thanks,

Greetings, I got the 9w7 module (easy install) and the features came alive in my 2010 sportwagen tdi – voice, phone book, etc, but now I cannot make any outgoing calls. HELP! Everything is paring and downloading and I can receive calls but oddly the phone’s ringer rings and not the car’s. From other posters on forums this unit is plug and play on my car other than the voice activated button on the steering wheel (has to be activated using VAG software).

Rodney,
What we need to do is to check on phone compatibility as I’m sure there are either different configurations or compatibility issues across VW’s bluetooth platform. What phone do you have and what carrier is it with? I will dig around for a compatibility list.
Thanks,

Received my 9w7 today and it really was a simple and easy install. Works well with my iPhone 4. It downloaded all my contacts as well as the recent, missed, and favorite calls. My display shows the phone’s user name and all the icons (bar & battery strength, service provider, etc). I have the premium 8 (not sure if that’s the same as the RCD-510) in my 2 month old 2010 Golf TDI. And hope to get the voice button reprogrammed @ n/c by the dealership. I’m returning the 9w2 for a credit/refund.
And thanks to Scott (flytdiguy) for the good service!

Hi,
Was talking to a vw parts dealer, he told me the following part numbers are all 9W7 module:
7P6-035-730B
7P6-035-730C
7P6-035-730D
He was not sure as to what the B,C,D are for but I that the 9W3 had A,B,C,D,E for different cars and MFD’s. For example the the B version of the 9W3 is compatible with red dot matrix MFD’s.
Here the big questions, could the 9W7 B version (7P6-035-730B) be compatible with the reddot matrix?
-Thanks

Hey there
In my digging for what was compatible with my car I was told the “C” was listed as compatible and that 9w7 was not compatible with red displays.

From what I have found in my testing is that the “C” version has not worked with Red displays. From what Aria mentioned, the “B” version works with red displays, but I have not confirmed it.
Thanks,

Very good question, and unfortunately I do not have the answer. I will check around to see about the “B” version being compatible with Red displays.

It is compatible with RCD 300 Radio (Passat B6) ? Or what are the recommended bluetooth module for this car?

Probably the 9w2 bluetooth kit. Depending if you have a highline cluster, in which case a 9w3 might work, but I don’t know if the RCD 300 supports any on-screen dialing.

I want to purchase one, but will it work with the standard 2010 Touareg that doesn’t have Nav (aka the Premium VI AM/FM radio with single CD player)? I have the red MFD display.
Thanks,
Ginger

Does this kit come with Microphone (3B0 035 711 B) and VW VOICE COMMAND and A2DP cables? I only have RCD310 on my Mk6. Thanks a lot!

To Canada by mail in 5 days. 45 seconds to install works great in my 2010 Tiguan. Many, many thanks
