    Hi,

I have a couple of questions if you can help please.

    1. Is this supported with any RNS-510 model?

    2. Does the unit support a button push on the head unit to activiate the voice control?

I have just purchased an RNS-510 to install in my 2004 Touareg. I have a CAN Bus filter to get some simple functionality from my basic multi function steering wheel and am not looking for any advanced functions on the steering wheel. My steering wheel does not have phone controls and that makes the voice control feature very appealing.

If the unit is supported with any RNS-510 head unit and the voice control can be activated with a button press on the RNS-510 then it would seem to be that I could still get a highly functional bluetooth handsfree working (the address book display in MFD and steering wheel controls are of no great interest to me.)

    Flytdiguy Reply:

Yes, this module works with older RNS-510 models.
From the information that I have read from others, the unit does support the phone button on the RNS-510.
I do not know if this new 9W7 version will work with the Touareg, and I would highly doubt if it is compatible with an older can-bus version of the Touareg. From what I understand, the 9W7 will not work with red displays from 06-08 VWs, so if I had to guess, it would not work for your 04 Touareg. The one kit that will work is the Fiscon Basic Plus.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

Will this work with the Premium7 Headunit in a MK5 GTI? Since it does not have bluetooth currently (but has the phone button), are there any other parts that are needed to make this work? I do plan to upgrade to the RNS-510 but not right away so that’s why I am interested in this 9w7

    Thanks

    FLYTDIGUY Reply:

    Hi Jeff,
I know that this BT Module will work with both the Premium 8 (RCD-510) and RNS-510. I am not certain that it would work with other headunits. Theoretically, it should work as a replacement for any 9W2, so if you have that BT kit with your Premium 7, you *should* be ok. As mentioned previously, I do not have factual proof both are compatible with each other.

    Thanks,

Greetings, I got the 9w7 module (easy install) and the features came alive in my 2010 sportwagen tdi – voice, phone book, etc, but now I cannot make any outgoing calls. HELP! Everything is paring and downloading and I can receive calls but oddly the phone’s ringer rings and not the car’s. From other posters on forums this unit is plug and play on my car other than the voice activated button on the steering wheel (has to be activated using VAG software).

    Rodney,
What we need to do is to check on phone compatibility as I’m sure there are either different configurations or compatibility issues across VW’s bluetooth platform. What phone do you have and what carrier is it with? I will dig around for a compatibility list.
    Thanks,

Received my 9w7 today and it really was a simple and easy install.  Works well with my iPhone 4. It downloaded all my contacts as well as the recent, missed, and favorite calls.  My display shows the phone’s user name and all the icons (bar & battery strength, service provider, etc).  I have the premium 8 (not sure if that’s the same as the RCD-510) in my 2 month old 2010 Golf TDI. And hope to get the voice button reprogrammed @ n/c by the dealership.  I’m returning the 9w2 for a credit/refund.

And thanks to Scott (flytdiguy) for the good service!

    Hi,

Was talking to a vw parts dealer, he told me the following part numbers are all 9W7 module:

    7P6-035-730B
    7P6-035-730C
    7P6-035-730D

He was not sure as to what the B,C,D are for but I that the 9W3 had A,B,C,D,E for different cars and MFD’s.  For example the the B version of the 9W3 is compatible with red dot matrix MFD’s.

Here the big questions, could the 9W7 B version (7P6-035-730B) be compatible with the reddot matrix?

    -Thanks

Probably the 9w2 bluetooth kit. Depending if you have a highline cluster, in which case a 9w3 might work, but I don’t know if the RCD 300 supports any on-screen dialing.

Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing if the 9W7 will work in you Audi. I have not heard of anyone using this module in an A3, but I don’t follow it that closely.

Your best bet is to go with something like the FISCON bluetooth kit, which is plug and play with your Audi. VAGNAVs.com is a great source for all your audi navigation parts. Tell them that Flytdiguy sent you.

The RNS-510 will fit no problem. Since you have no bluetooth currently, you will need the entire bluetooth kit for the 9W7, not just the module. The kit includes the microphone, wiring harness, the styrofoam holder and the module (all the components needed for installation). We do sell the entire 9W7 bluetooth kit for $475.

Not sure why the dealer is telling you this. As long as you can access the BT via multifunction steering wheel or stalk through your tacho MFD or through the RNS-510, there’s no reason why you should need the overhead switch.

Just installed into my US 2010 Jetta SportWagen TDI. Took about 20 seconds and works perfectly. I didn’t do any programming at all. Overhead button turns on voice activation. Phone button on steering wheel displays Phone options in the MDF. Also, after connecting, MDF shows icons to indicate

    - Bluetooth active
    - Battery level
    - Signal strength

RNS-510 displays phone info, address book, sync’s missed, dialed and incoming calls. This upgrade from the 9W2 was well worth it. Shipping was fast. No complaints at all and I’m one happy camper.

Scott, Thanks for you quick reply. The BT module currently installed is 1Z0035729E and has what looks like a small printed circuit board plugged into the side. Does the 9W7 module incorporate the plugged in item? The existing BT module is held place by a metal cover with 3 bolts. It looks like I don’t need the metal cover with 9W7 – correct? Is there additional wiring required for L and R channels when streaming audio? If I can get these questions answered I will be ordering.

The 9W3 (what you have) is smaller and has metal covering while the 9W7 is larger and plastic covering. They are slightly different shapes.

If you want to DIY harness, here are all the parts. You need 2 VW repair wires and just cut them in half, solder w/your own extension wire in the middle, and plug them into the existing connector. Connect pin 5 to pin 5 and pin 11 on the radio to pin 4 on the bluetooth.

    12 pin connector (6×2 rows) – green- 3B7 035 447 B (3B7035447B) – telephone end

    Repair Wire 0.5mm – 000 979 009 (000979009)
pin 5 – telephone audio input signal left negative
pin 11 – Telephone audio input signal left, positive

    54 pin connector (18×3 rows) – blue- 4E0 972 144 (4E0972144)

    Repair Wire 0.5mm – 000 979 010E (000979010E)

    Hello,
I got recommended to your site view myturbodiesel.com. I’ve got 2010 jetta TDI Sportwagen (USA) with 9w2 (pn 1K8 035 730 D). I’ve got no nav system, but want the upgraded features in the 9w7.

Will the 7p6035730 work for me? which version do i need B/C/D etc.
    Thanks much.
    Brgds

Yes, if you have a white color MFD, the 9W7 bluetooth should work. Skoda, I’m not sure of.

H, I have a 2010 Tiguan SE 4motion with the RCD510 and bluetooth. I can only make and receive calls no phone book. i am guessing my existing bluetooth is 9w2 and with 9w7 i will get phonebook and a2dp. since i only have rcd510 will i get dialpad too? i also have the older steering wheel with star and phone button and volume on the left and menu, ok and track next and previous buttons on the right. don’t know if i can fully utilize the 9w7 or i will have to swap the steering wheel as well
